Role overview
The Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the environment underneath Black Coast Systems products. You help make deployments repeatable, databases recoverable, services observable and access controlled. As our software environment grows across BCC OS, AcrossEstate and future products, infrastructure must remain simple enough to operate and strong enough to protect important business and customer data. We are looking for someone who values reliability, security and practical automation over unnecessary complexity.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain reliable cloud infrastructure for production systems
- Build repeatable deployment and environment management workflows
- Maintain database backup, restore and recovery procedures
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting and service health checks
- Improve access control, secrets management and infrastructure security
- Support incident investigation and recovery when systems fail
- Review infrastructure cost, performance and scaling requirements
- Automate recurring operational tasks where it improves reliability
- Document architecture, recovery procedures and critical dependencies
- Work with engineers on safe releases and production changes
Experience & skills
- Strong experience operating production cloud infrastructure
- Good understanding of networking, DNS, TLS, access control and service security
- Experience with CI and CD and repeatable deployment practices
- Experience with managed databases, backups and recovery
- Strong monitoring, logging and incident response fundamentals
- Comfort with infrastructure automation and scripting
- Ability to balance reliability, cost and operational simplicity
- Clear documentation habits and security awareness
- Experience with serverless, managed backend platforms or infrastructure as code is useful
How the role works
Infrastructure work is driven by the risk and operational needs of real products. You review how systems are deployed, where data lives, how access is controlled and what happens if a dependency fails. You create practical safeguards, automate repeatable work and make recovery procedures testable rather than theoretical. The role works closely with Software and Systems Integration engineers so application decisions and infrastructure constraints remain aligned.
